Lake Tahoe Artist

It was a true honor photographing Blair in her home studio. I've been following her journey for a while and recently started spotting her paintings at the climbing gym. I would find myself doing a double take every time. Each painting takes me on a unique visual journey that both centers me and is exhilarating. That's why spending time documenting her world was a treat. And the best part? Gaining a new creative friend and adventure buddy. Keep an eye out for our collaborations on walls later this year. Enjoy this sneak peek into Blair's world."

“I have been creating art since I was able to stand. My grandmother would set up easels and drawing pads for my brother and I to color on. I would draw all over mine then waddle over to his easel and draw all over his, too, much to his chagrin.” -Blair

“I took art electives in high school, which is when I was introduced to painting as a medium. I was in competitive dance my whole adolescent life, but in my senior year, I left dance in order to take an additional art elective!”

“I believe we can do anything in life. I am very ambitious and aim to have my art in the Louvre, Guggenheim, and many other great galleries and museums before I die. And I'm not afraid to be thought of as naive, foolish, or arrogant. I think all life asks of us is to believe in ourselves and try.”

“My name, Blair Latos, loosely translates to "Summer Battlefield." The Greek root "Lato" means "summer" and the Scottish Gaelic "blar" means "meadow, plain, especially a battlefield". My middle name is Marvel, which means to admire things. I think my name is spookily spot on for who I am!”

“I believe achieving a goal is in fact inevitable when we get ultra-clear about what it is, truly want it (not sorta want it or "should" want it), and decide we will have it. If we take steps in the direction of the goal post every day, it is impossible that we don't arrive at it over time, or at least die trying -- which I believe is an equally worthy outcome.”

“My favorite things to do when I am not painting are rock climb, run, hike, lay in the sun contemplating life, read, write philosophy, and smell wildflowers.”

“Mt Whitney (14,495 ft, the highest peak in the continental US) is the first peak I summited outside of Reno-Tahoe, which I climbed in 2020. When I returned to the trailhead, I cried in the bathroom by myself, swore that I hated climbing, and resolved to never do it again. I climbed it again the next year, with only slightly less turmoil.”

“I believe envisioning the future is a very powerful tool to use every day in achieving our goals. I believe the human spirit -- willpower -- is unlimited and inexorable. I believe thought is the origin of all action, and therefore we need to "think our way to success".

What were you most anxious, nervous, excited prior to your session and what was the outcome?

“I wasn't anxious or nervous because (1) I trusted your expertise and knew you would guide me to do what I needed to do, and (2) I trusted myself to show up exactly as I needed to show up for a successful shoot.”

“I was most excited to be in the zone, to get to spend a few hours in the experience of a "model", and to have fun with something I'd never done before.”

“… I have SO much new material to work with for expanding my business, which will allow me to serve more people and reach my personal financial goals. The secondary outcome is I now know how to be more confident in front of a camera for all the future photoshoots life sends my way in the course of my career. Finally, the tertiary outcome is that YOUR energy has rubbed off on me, and I feel empowered, capable, and inspired.”
